“Drawing is something I've always been pretty good at. I wanted to draw
for a living, so in 1977 I moved to L.A. to work in the animation business
until I "made it" as an illustrator.
“Thirty years later and I still do both of those things. I've been making my magazine illustrations and animation designs exclusively in Photoshop for ten years or more. I think it's cool to be able to create my Loteria image in layers that turn into the letterpress plates that ultimately evolve into a tactile piece of art.
My piece is about being a player in early Hollywood. I've seen my share of players after twenty years at Disney.”
Los Angeles knows Ed Wexler best for his caricature art for the Hollywood Reporter’s Academy Award and Emmy issues; his editorial and political cartoons have appeared in US News & World Report and many other publications. His highly prized work is sought after as personal commissions by members of the entertainment industry.
