The Hollywood Bowl seating plan is iconic as a form of Los Angeles architecture and entertainment, but it comes to resemble a balloon in the way it’s tilted and floating within the picture space.  The focus on “gift kiosk” locations brings it back down to earth.”

Greg Colson was born in Seattle, Washington, and grew up in Bakersfield, California.  He earned a BA at Cal State College, Bakersfield in 1978, and an MFA at Claremont Graduate School in 1980.  He lives and works in Venice, California.  Mr. Colson has had extensive solo exhibitions, including Sperone Westwater (New York), Galleria Cardi (Milan), Gian Enzo Sperone (Rome), Konrad Fischer (Dusseldorf), Griffin Contemporary (Los Angeles), Baldwin Gallery (Aspen), and the Lannan Museum (Lake Worth, FL).  His works are in the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden (Washington D.C.), the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York), the Museum of Contemporary Art (Los Angeles), and the Getty Research Institute (Los Angeles).  His Loteria work is based on The Hollywood Bowl seating plan, iconic as a form of Los Angeles architecture and entertainment.
